BIOGRAPHY

Sophia Anderson (b. 2003, Virgina), has been making art from a very young age. Raised in Virginia, Ohio, China, and New York, one of the constants in her life has been the desire and drive to create. There wasn’t a specific point where she started making art, but rather a growing pattern in what she wanted to do in her life and free time. She received multiple awards throughout grade school for her artwork, and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for College. Anderson’s artwork often varies in theme, medium, and focus, but a lot of her work has circled around decay, and fantastical worlds as of late.

Sophia Anderson is a maker. She’ll make paintings, drawings, sculptures, fiber work, and clothing. She works in a variety of mediums to fulfill this desire to create, whether it be a detailed oil painting or a crocheted chicken, it gets made. Anderson is inspired by fantasy and her own imagination, as well as developing a visual for people’s ideas through concept art. Her goal is to make art with anything and everything, which forms the foundation of her practice and life.
